T2.2._HR3000003 Vrsar islands-Testing site
Abstract
Marine NATURA 2000 site-HR3000003 Vrsar island consists of 21 uninhabited islands and cliffs with an area of 882,19 ha, on the west coast of Istria county.
According to NATURA 2000 Standard Data Form, the main issues related to the marine environment are:
-1110 - Sandbanks which are slightly covered by seawater all the time
-1170 - Reefs
-8330 – Submerged or partially submerged sea caves
Administratively, the site belongs to 3 units of local self-government:
- the municipality of Vrsar-Orsera,
- the municipality of Funtana-Fontane
- the city of Poreč-Parenzo.
The site is located inside of the protected coastal area, which is, according to the Physical Planning Act, 1000 m in the continental belt and 300 m sea belt measured from the coastline.
